Engine Balancing
We offer full dynamic engine balancing on our state of the art computer controlled balancing machine. We match balance every component of the rotational assembly including the pistons and conrods. Weight is taken from the pistons and conrods in critical areas so as not to cause weakening. The crankshaft is then balanced to suit these weights by either removing or adding weight to the counterweights to ensure a smooth driving engine. To remove weight in race applications we can either grind or machine the counterweights to remove material to maintain the integrity of the original counterweight. To add weight we use Mallory metal which is a composite metal and weighs twice the amount of steel. This is formed into plugs, which then gets pressed in to the counterweights on the crankshaft.

Bore & Honing (block preparation)
We can bore & hone your engine block to suit your requirements. We also have available torque plate honing for most applications. This involves bolting a plate to the block where the cylinder head would normally be. This is then torqued down to the same specification as the cylinder head. Doing this gives a much more precise finish and final size.

Crank Modification
With our in-house crankshaft grinder we can cover your entire crankshaft grinding needs. We can complete a standard regrind of your existing crank or we can complete a full blueprint grind with phasing and indexing of the crankshaft. With blueprint grinding we measure and set up the crankshaft to suit the size of your conrods and main tunnel to ensure you have correct bearing clearances maintained. We also phase and index the crankshaft to ensure the pistons are at top dead centre at exactly the right time, what does this mean? All round better performance of your engine!!. We can also change the stroke to increase the cubic capacity of your engine or de-stroke the crankshaft to get in to the race class you want. We can modify your existing crankshaft to lighten the rotating mass. We can also knife edge the crankshaft which again lightens the rotating mass and also reduces windage, which frees up the engine and increases horsepower. So whether it is a general clean up, re-phasing or changing the stroke of a crankshaft we can help.

Main Tunnel Honing/Boring (block preparation)
Over time the main tunnel on your engine can become out of shape or misaligned. To rectify this you need to line hone or bore the main tunnel. We finish the main tunnel to tolerances that exceed original factory specifications for concentricity and alignment. We can also modify your block to have 4 bolt main caps fitted or supply and fit a main stud girdle to strengthen up the bottom end for you. When we either line hone or line bore the main tunnel we ensure that it is finished at the correct size to maintain correct bearing clearances in your engine

Sonic Testing (block preparation)
Sonic testing is essential for performance related engines. By sonic testing the block we can determine the cylinder wall thickness and also identify any core shift before we perform any machining on the block. We can determine whether the cylinder wall will be too thin for the application and cause overheating or any other problems. This can save you a lot of money in the long term.

Conrod Machining
Conrod resizing is a very important process that needs to be completed to get the most from your conrods. We fit new ARP high performance bolts and resize the conrod to correct specifications. This helps maintain correct bearing clearances which is vital in a high performance engine. We can also re-bush the small ends of conrods and if require pin bore the conrod small end to allow for a larger gudgeon pin than the standard. This vastly increases the strength of the piston/conrod assembly.

Engine assembly
With over 30 years experience building engines you can be assured that you are in the right hands. We can build everything from your mild street machine through to your blown alcohol monster. When we build an engine we always treat it as if it is the next Bathurst winner. We set up all the correct clearances for the bearings and all tolerances are double checked. We measure and check everything from the bottom up. Before we start assembly we complete a dummy assembly of your engine to find out the correct deck height of the piston then we deck the block to the correct height whilst also truing all the cylinders to the main tunnel. This keeps the compression ratio and TDC between the cylinders completely even for greater performance. Pushrods are measured for the correct length and the rocker geometry is set up to match the camshaft being used. We also set up the valve springs at the installed height and pressure to match the camshaft which has been specially chosen for your engine application. We also always check that everything is working the way it should be in a high performance race engine, paying lots of attention to even the smallest details. We can also design and develop custom oiling systems and modify your existing sump or design one for your application with windage tray, gates and external pick up if required. We can also help you design and develop custom fuel and cooling systems for your application. Basically if we think it will give you an advantage we can do it.
